Day 5 - Accessories
Step-By-Step Instructions for Today's Declutter Task
Yesterday, we worked on tops, or maybe you chose a different clothing category. Now that you have one sub-category decluttered, you can follow the same process for the others in your closet.
Today, we're switching gears from clothes to accessories. There are so many possibilities with this category!
Here are some ideas:
- scarves
- belts
- ties
- ball caps/hats
- purses/bags
You could even declutter shoes, if you're so inclined 😁
After you've gathered all pieces from your category, start making decisions. Take a look at each one and decide if you'll keep it, or purge it.
Ask yourself these questions as you go through the process:
- Does it fit?
- Is it in good condition?
- Does it fit your current style?
- Do you like it?
- When was the last time you wore it or used it?
And don't let the following factors deter you from letting it go:
- how much you paid for it
- what brand it is
- that it was a gift
- that you got a good deal on it
Like we've done with previous tasks, separate what you're keeping from what you're parting with. If you're struggling with some, like I did with the bags in the video, make a "maybe" pile and then go back to them.
Put the keepers where they belong, the donations in a bag, and toss what's in bad shape.
